Saturday, July 13th, 1:00 pm Artist Asif Shaikh of India with speak about his Embroidered Textiles – A Gathering of Voices, Folk Art from the Judith Espinar and Tom Dillenberg Collection exhibition

In celebration of Alexander Girard join us for Special Public Themed Girard Tours exploring Alexander Girard’s’ work on exhibit, in our exhibit Multiple Visions: A Common Bond and the traveling exhibit Alexander Girard: A Designer’s Universe
Join docent Edelma Huntley for a tour focusing on the Cuisines of World as seen by Alexander Girard. On this “foodie” tour explore the folk art food scenes, table settings, and other ways in which he portrayed the art of sharing food around the World. Tour is free with museum admission. Tour size is limited to 15, so please plan to arrive early. Tour starts promptly at 1:30pm. Additional tours will be scheduled if there is overflow.

A Conversation with Todd Oldham: A Designers Universe

Conversation with Todd Oldham on Mid-Century Modern & Alexander Girard in MOIFA’s Vernick Auditorium, celebrating Mid-Century Modern and the traveling exhibit "Alexander Girard: A Designer’s Universe"
This conversation, introduced by Georgia O’Keeffe Museum Director Cody Harley, will be a conversation between MoIFA Curator of European & American Folk Art Collections, Laura Addison and design icon Todd Olham. His fashion and style has become known to millions through his fashion lines, interior designs, books and by appearing in many television shows. Oldham is also co-author of the massive monograph “Alexander Girard” (2011) which covers virtually every aspect of his distinctive career.
This lecture, co-organized by MoIFA and the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, will explore modernist design which carry into the 21st century.
