Join us on Sunday, June 2nd for a Library pop-up open house from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm for "Girard before the Wing," A look back at Alexander Girard’s MOIFA exhibitions in the decades prior to his 1982 landmark Multiple Visions: A Common Bond.
All are invited to discover the Bartlett Library & Archives at the Museum of International Folk Art through our 2019 Open House series, featuring pop-up exhibits exploring the world of folk art and the history of the Museum. Please join us for these free events!

The Museum of International Folk Art (MOIFA) is celebrating the 10th year of its innovative Folk Art Flea, and it is on the move. Normally held in May, this year’s Flea is jumping to June—Saturday, June 8. Look for the Big Top tent on Milner Plaza on Museum Hill.

In celebration of Alexander Girard join us for Special Public Themed Girard Tours exploring Alexander Girard’s’ work on exhibit, in our exhibit Multiple Visions: A Common Bond and the traveling exhibit Alexander Girard: A Designer’s Universe
Join docent Ann Murdy for a tour focusing on the influence of Mexican Folk Art on Alexander Girard’s exhibits and textile design. Tour is free with museum admission. Tour size is limited to 15, so please plan to arrive early. Tour starts promptly at 1:30pm. Additional tours will be scheduled if there is overflow.

Georgia O’Keeffe educators join MOIFA for our June Arts Alive sessions featuring make your very own Girard-style wooden people out of a wooden spoons!
Learn about the friendship that Georgia O’Keeffe and Alexander Girard shared. You can also make miniature flower pictures, like the ones Georgia gave to Girard which are displayed in the Italian Villa scene in the Multiple Visions exhibit.
ALL WORKSHOPS ARE FROM 10AM–2PM, Programs begin on the hour. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Museum entrance free for Arts Alive! participants during workshop hours. Boundary Trouble: Outliers and American Vanguard Art

Lecture by Lynne Cooke, senior curator for special projects in modern art at the National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC. Her talk, titled “Boundary Trouble: Outliers and American Vanguard Art,” will take place in the museum’s Vernick Auditorium on Saturday, June 15, 2-3pm. Cooke’s recent exhibition Outliers and American Vanguard Art furthered the conversation about self-taught or “outsider” art, offering a more inclusive art historical narrative that integrates the contributions of often marginalized artists to the narrative of American visual culture.
Talk is free with museum admission.

Celebration and Concert- A collaboration between artists from Santa Fe and Lima, Peru – In the Santa Fe Railyard
Join the Museum of International Folk Art along with Santa Fe’s Alas de Agua and Three Sisters Collectives, and Lima’s Amapolay for a night of art making, music and celebration of community activism. Held in conjunction with the exhibition Community Through Making: From Peru to New Mexico.
