alabados - hymns sung by the Penitentes

artisan - a worker who practices a trade or handicraft

artist - a person who is skilled or adept at something

ceramics - the process of making something out of clay

craft - an occupation or trade requiring manual dexterity or skill

colcha embroidery - embroidery made with native wool yarn on wool or cotton backing

hide painting - painting on the tanned hide of a buffalo or cow

retablo - image of a saint, created by a santero, usually painted on a wooden board

santero - an artisan who makes images of saints, in 2 or 3 dimensions

silversmith - an artisan who works with silver

storyteller - a person who tells stories

straw appliqué - the practice of using cut pieces of straw to decorate a surface

tradition - the handing down of information, beliefs and customs by word of mouth or by example

weaving - forming cloth by interlacing strands of fiber
