Spend an afternoon in the heart of southern Spain, the land of Flamenco.  Nicolasa Chavez, Curator of Hispanic Collections will present a leture and demonstration on the origins of this beautiful music and dance.  The presentation will be accompanied by live guitar, singing and dance. The Museum of International Folk Art cordially invites the public to celebrate the opening of Sacred Realm: Blessings & Good Fortune Across Asia.

Celebrate the Lunar New Year and the opening of a New exhibition at the Museum of International Folk Art!

In the Atrium: 1-4 pm Hands-on art making activities for ages 3 to 103 include making Khamsas, a powerful form of personal protection; and Japanese Ema, decorate a plaque with your wish. Gamelan Encantada performs Javanse Temple Music Henna Artists paint blessings on your hands at 2 & 3:30 PM- The Quang Minh Lion Dancers perform. In the Auditorium 1PM- Opening remarks by Felicia Katz-Harris, Exhibition Curator and Senior Curator, Asian Art. 1:00-1-30PM Potala Dance Troupe performs Tibertan Dance & Song 3:00-3:30PM Trupti Panickor performs Bharatanatyam Style Dance from India. All by Museum Admission, New Mexico Residents with I.D. free on Sundays, youth 16 and under and Museum of New Mexico Foundation Members always free!
