Sand Mandala construction and community Sand Painting
His Imminence Khentul Rinpoche from the Drepung Loseling monastery visited MOIFA in 2015 to select and interpret objects from our Asian collection to install on the exhibit’s Tibetan Buddhist altar.
The Drepung Loseling monks who will be leading the program decided that an Amitabha Mandala and a Tara Puja will be most appropriate, based on the exhibit’s cross-cultural nature and wide-ranging ideas of blessings. The Amitabha mandala represents boundless light for healing and longevity; the Tara Puja will offer our community protection from harm, success, and guidance in personal development.
