Candelabra

Through the encouragement of art dealers and collectors, Aurelio and his son Francisco began making extremely large and complex candelabras to serve as sculptures in museums, restaurants, and wealthy homes. In this example, they have retained the traditional iconography of the engagement ceremony pieces, with large images of the archangel San Raphael at the base and upper center of the main stem. These are surrounded by smaller figures of archangels, birds, and flowers placed throughout the complex structure of arms. The candleholders themselves have been reduced to small projections at the top.
